Welcome to Plains Trading Post Restaurant

“ I stopped by Plains Trading Post Restaurant twice over a month time period. I tend to travel through Douglas on road trips through Wyoming. I've marked this as a place to stop by for me and my family. The first stop was for breakfast. I had a great omelet, with decent proportion and not long wait time for the food. The second visit was with a different group for lunch. The rest of my party had a simple side or sandwich. I thought my double cheese burger was fine with plenty of fries. They offer condiments you want (opposed to charging extra or not asking). The history and decor of the restaurant is interesting. Read their history on the menu. This establishment is made up of a few historical buildings, including the attached motel. There is smoking in this restaurant which bothered me some, even though smoking is only in the bar (entrance) I think. Next to the restaurant is a ice cream parlor. There are only a few seats, but there are treats. Nice break, again, for a road trip. Service was friendly and quick, but casual (no rush). I definitely will stop by more often when driving through Wyoming. ”

“ The decor is fascinating, and our waitress was super helpful, fast, accurate, and attentive without hovering. Loved her a lot. She was super honest about what was good and what wasn't that good on the menu, and we listened, so it dinner was excellent. They had just down sized the salad bar, and it was mostly lettuce with dressing and the possibility of grated cheese, sunflower seeds, and croutons. Luckily they didn't charge more for it as they said they might on the menu. The chicken fried steak and the beef liver were delicious. The steak everything it should be if you love white gravy, but you can ask for brown, and the brown is delicious too. Our waitress asked me if I liked gravy on my liver and so she brought me some on the side. I know not everyone likes liver, but I do and I could tell that it was fresh and they'd treated it with respect, as it was fried until it has caramelized well on the outside and there were plenty of grilled onions, as it ought to be. ”

“ Decent stop in Douglas, with good service The Plains Trading Post Restaurant has a friendly atmosphere and a nice local feel. The food was okay — nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. The service was good and the staff were friendly and attentive. It’s worth noting that it’s still a smoking restaurant, with only the main dining room being non-smoking, which might not appeal to everyone. Overall, a decent stop if you’re passing through, but there’s room for improvement. ”

“ Inside the wooden frame of the Plains Trading Post Restaurant lies another world, another time, captured and held by something which cannot quite be put into words. Alive in the air, the food, the drinks, and the eyes of the staff, this energy flows freely. Be aware, vigilant in your intentions, that you might partake and transfer this energy openly. Fill your stomach, your heart and soul. Drink, eat, and be well. ”

“ BEST Chicken Fried Steak I've ever eaten! This place is open 24 hours which made it great for getting into town late. Leaving out the next morning we got a GREAT breakfast as well. ”

“ This is a historic adventure. If you like interesting construction, this is worth a visit. It was built out of remnants from area buildings and is literally a museum. It is cozy, with a smoking/non smoking section. The ice cream parlor is fun and operational. Unfortunately due to vandalism, the upstairs museum is closed. The Lounge/dance hall opens at 4. ”

“ Got take out, 10/10 recommend !! Got the breakfast steak, very well seasoned. Very impressed! Husband got the biscuits and bacon gravy, he was also very satisfied! Definitely coming back for more food!!(Already started eating but had to stop to commend this wonderful food!) ”
